twenty-twenty vision
I still automatically reach for my cloth to clean glasses, which I no longer wear.
I got my eyes lazered at Pacific Laser Eye Center in Vancouver. Dr David Lin came highly recommended, and after meeting him the first time it was clear why. A very considered and good-natured doctor, he quickly put me at ease while explaining the benifits of their SmartSerface PRK procedure. It's a non-invasive procedure that takes roughly 40 seconds per eye. That's it!
After a few days on the couch (listening to the excellent "The Black Tapes Podcast"), on a contrant drip of eye drops, my vision started to clear. After another week or so my eyes became a little less sensitive to light. And after a month I was no longer even thinking about it. I still do drops every few days, as I'm on a 6 month regimen -- but at this point I'm quite convinced that I'm healed and good to go.
And it really is quite amazing. I wish I had done this years ago. I don't necessarily feel like I have more energy, but I certainly feel more liberated. People keep telling me I look much different. I like having more control over how I present to the world :)
I went for my one-month checkup, and the optometrist informed me I have better than 20/20 vision. Not so shabby!
